Norwich City standout Emiliano Buendia has provided a fresh update on his future, on the back of the club’s return to the Premier League.

Speculation surrounding the name of Argentine attacker Buendia was of course rampant earlier this year.

This came with heavyweights Arsenal having been on the lookout for creative reinforcements, and the 24-year-old identified by Mikel Arteta and co. as the perfect addition.

Buendia has enjoyed another stellar campaign to date, across which he has racked up an eye-watering 13 goals and 15 assists in the Championship alone.

In turn, it came as little surprise when Norwich opted to block an Emirates switch for their star man, forcing Arsenal to turn their attentions towards Martin Odegaard.

‘I don’t know…’

Buendia, though, has not at all allowed the Canaries’ stance to affect his performances on the pitch, with the South American having since continued to light up the Championship landscape.

Such exceptional form, meanwhile, proved central to Norwich this weekend securing their return to the pinnacle of English football.

A 3-1 defeat the hands of Bournemouth mattered little, as results elsewhere ensured that Daniel Farke’s men maintained their 8-point advantage atop the Championship table, enough to assure another season of Premier League football in 2021/22.

In turn, next on the agenda for the Canaries will of course be building the kind of squad which could see them finally maintain a spot in the English top-flight for more than a solitary campaign.

It therefore no doubt came as a source of concern when, on the back of their promotion being made mathematically official, star man Buendia appeared to cast fresh doubt over his future.

Speaking to the media ahead of Norwich’s meeting with Bournemouth, the Argentine first confirmed that he turned down the opportunity to move on during the winter window:

‘I could have changed club. But I wanted to bring Norwich back in the Premier League.’

From here, though, Buendia admitted that, as things stand, he is unaware of what his future holds:

‘I don’t know what will happen in the next year. I follow the whole of European football but I’m very keen on the Premier [League].’
