On Wednesday, it looked like Abou Diaby’s lengthy injury-hit career at Arsenal was over.

Diaby and Ryo Miyaichi were on Arsenal’s “released list” of players presented by the Premier League.

Despite all the injuries, Arsenal fans seemed somewhat sad about Diaby leaving the club, the Frenchman was the only player left to have scored at Highbury.

However, it looks like Abou Diaby’s time at Arsenal is not over.

On Wednesday evening, Bruno Constant, a reliable L’Equipe correspondent in London confirmed that the French midfielder is in contracts talks with Arsenal.

Constant suggests that Diaby “hasn’t been released by Arsenal… [and has a] verbal agreement with the club.

At 29-years-old, it would be a major surprise were Abou Diaby to return from these chronic injuries and play a major role for Arsenal again.

But, Arsene Wenger seemingly still feels Diaby could offer the Gunners something, if he can get back to full fitness.
