Arsenal currently have four senior central defenders. William Saliba, Ben White, Rob Holding and Gabriel.

This season has seen Saliba and Gabriel emerge as the Gunners’ main centre-back duo, with Ben White often used at right-back instead.

And whilst four central defenders is generally enough for one team who play a back-four, Arsenal currently have just one left-footed option in Gabriel.

As a result, it is not too surprising to see the north Londoners eyeing some reinforcements at the back.

According to the Evening Standard, Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka has emerged as a transfer option for Arsenal in their attempts to find a left-sided centre-back to provide competition for Gabriel.

Arsenal targeted Lisandro Martinez last summer before he joined Manchester United and Mikel Arteta is still seeking to strengthen his defence either in January or next summer.

And whilst Frankfurt want him to sign a new contract, they could be tempted to sell in January to avoid losing him for free next summer.

Juventus are also monitoring the stopper. It is not mentioned how much Arsenal would have to pay to sign him permanently in January.
