Aaron Ramsdale became Arsenal’s no.1 goalkeeper towards the beginning of the 2021/22 Premier League season.
The Gunners lost their opening three matches by a scoreline of 0-9. This saw Arsenal go into an international break bottom of the Premier League.
After said break, Mikel Arteta opted to make the newly-signed Aaron Ramsdale his no.1. The Englishman has since dominated the keeper spot at Arsenal, with Bernd Leno leaving the club last year for Fulham.
Now, Ramsdale looks as though he may have some fresh competition for his place.
According to The Athletic, Arsenal are exploring a deal to sign Brentford goalkeeper David Raya.
It is added that Brentford are yet to receive an offer from Arsenal — or any other team — but are aware of their interest.
The Gunners want to recruit the Spainish international to compete alongside Aaron Ramsdale for a starting place.
German champions Bayern Munich are also looking at Raya, but for a loan not a permanent move, whilst the player himself is understood to favour a move to long-term admirers, Arsenal.
