Carlo Ancelotti rejects Italy
Who will be the next manager of the Italian national team?
The Azzurri have been plunged into a fresh problem on Sunday, as the Italian press have revealed that Carlo Ancelotti has turned down the chance to be the manager.
It had previously been thought that Ancelotti was a shoo-in for the job.
Of course, Italy failed to quaify for the 2018 World Cup.
It’s the first time Italy have failed to reach the finals in 60 years.
Good news for Arsenal?
Has Ancelotti pulled out of the Italian job in order to take over at Arsenal instead?
There’s nothing to suggest that Arsenal have made any further moves to land the former Chelsea boss. However Ancelotti has been mentioned as a possible successor to Arsene Wenger when he leaves the Gunners this summer.
The big news on the Arsenal managerial front on Sunday, however, is the story that Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri is the new frontrunner for the Gunners post.
Bad news for Antonio Conte
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has also been linked with the Azzurri vacancy.
Conte had a successful spell in charge of the Italian national team before he took the reigns at Stamford Bridge.
But according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Conte is not the favourite even after Ancelotti has withdrawn from the race.
Former Man City manager Roberto Mancini is instead the favourite to get the Italy position.
Gazzetta also claim the former Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri is another name being considered.
It’s unclear what jobs will be available for Conte should he leave Chelsea in the summer.
