Bad for Arsenal: Chelsea & Monaco move for Maurizio Sarri

Everyone wants Napoli’s Maurizio Sarri

What seems clear, as the summer break approaches, is that their be a nervous game of managerial musical chairs this off-season.

Arsenal are already in the market for a new manager as Arsene Wenger is off.

Chelsea seem set to see Antonio Conte leave the Bridge, while further afield Napoli’s Maurizio Sarri is also tipped with a move.

Other managers who are constantly in the news right now include Carlo Ancelotti (unemployed), Leonardo Jardim (at Monaco) and Luis Enrique (unemployed).

Looking at the updates in the English and Italian press on Tuesday, Sarri is emerging as a man everyone is chasing.

Chelsea & Maurizio Sarri

The back page of the Mirror on Tuesday claims that Chelsea and Maurizio Sarri could soon join forces.

That’s after Sarri has signalled his intent for a change. The Mirror tell their readers:

Chelsea target Maurizio Sarri is to move to the Premier League because he is bored of Serie A.

A frustrated Sarri said: “The only hope is that, in life, everything has to end sometime! Sooner or later, the domination will end.

“I must say, seeing the Premier League have this constant alternation of winners every year, it grows the love for teams and makes everyone have hope of success. It’s a different situation here in Italy.”

Sticking with Chelsea, Italian daily Repubblica note that while Sarri is under consideration by the Blues, Chelsea are also considering a move for Juve manager Max Allegri.

Monaco target Sarri

In Corriere dello Sport, it’s reported that Monaco are trying to woo Sarri to Ligue 1.

At the same time, Napoli are trying to lock the manager down to a new, improved deal until 2021.

CdS note that the ball is in Sarri’s court on where he wants to go next.

What about Arsenal?

Noticeably, Arsenal are absent from the conversation on Tuesday regarding Sarri’s next move.

That’s odd as last weekend the Sunday Times announced that Sarri was at the top of the Gunners wanted list.
