Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta drops major summer transfer hint
Mikel Arteta has provided an insight into Arsenal’s plans for the 2022 summer transfer window.
Regardless of likely missing out on a top-four berth and, in turn, Champions League football, Arsenal have enjoyed a very good 2021/22 season.
The Gunners can finish no lower than 5th, which is a great improvement on their 8th-placed finishes in the previous two campaigns.
But this season also proved that the capital club are by no means the finished article, and lack experience in key areas.
And Mikel Arteta is clearly well aware of this, having hinted this weekend that Arsenal will be targeting more experienced players on the transfer market moving forward:
“Now we have cleared the deck. We have to start to add the top-quality pieces that they are not necessarily at 18, 19 or 20-years-old,” Arteta explained. “We will do what it takes to get better in every department.
“Not only the age group but in terms of the quality, in terms of the leadership, in terms of the goal threat of this team, in terms of the physicality of the team that we need to improve as well so there are a lot of areas.”

Where do Arsenal need to improve?
The obvious area in which Arsenal will have to improve this summer is centre-forward, with both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah due to leave for free in June.
Elsewhere, central midfield probably needs some more experience, whilst a young right-back option to back up Takehiro Tomiyasu is also needed.
