Anthony Martial’s imminent move from Monaco to Manchester Untied is set to be for an incredible fee of over £58million according to L’Equipe.
The 19-year old who is on the brink of a move to Old Trafford after United agreed a fee with the Ligue 1 side, is set to arrive in Manchester with a huge price tag on his shoulders.
According to reports in France the fee for the French under 21 international could rise to as much as €80million (£59million) when including additional add ons and performance related bonuses.
When taking all the figures into account Antony Martial’s transfer would see him cost more then Angel Di Maria’s transfer from Real Madrid to Manchester United, and potentially even more expensive then the fee Real Madrid paid Monaco for the services of James Rodriguez in 2014.
Manchester Untied’s willingness to pay an astronomical fee for the 19-year-old may not be soley based on the player’s reputation, despite being dubbed as the new Thierry Henry.
The reds are incredibly short in attacking reinforcements and have sold striker Javier Hernandez to Bayer Leverkusen, whilst youngster James Wilson is allowed to leave on loan. England captain Wayne Rooney is currently the only viable option up front, but has come under fire for his recent ineffective performances in the Premier League.
Some football fans seem to think that Reds boss Louis Van Gaal may have got slightly desperate towards the end of the transfer window.
L’Équipe reiterate this: Only Ronaldo, Bale, Neymar & Suarez have cost a football club more than Anthony Martial.
