Andreas Samaris & Newcastle
It’s feeling like Newcastle are closing in on another summer signing.
As rumours swirl about that Rafa Benitez is unhappy with the amount of activity at St James’ Park this summer, the Magpies have completed a handful of signings.
Christian Atsu, Florian Lejeune, Javier Manquillo and Jacob Murphy have all joined the Toon, and accoridng to reports in Greece on Wednesday, Benfica midfielder Andreas Samaris is set to be the club’s next addition.
Who is he?
The 28-year-old Greek midfielder made 18 appearances for Benfica in the Portuguese top flight last season.
Unlike some players that leave Benfica, there does not seem to be much attempt to hold onto Samaris by the Portuguese giants.
Earlier in the summer, Newcastle reportedly saw an initial offer for Samaris of 15 million euros rejected by the Eagles.
The Portuguese champions are now expecting a 20 million euro offer for Samaris, and will sell him to the Toon.
