Andre Villas-Boas confirms Arsenal-linked Morgan Sanson has interest from England

Andre Villas-Boas

Who is Sanson?

Morgan Sanson is currently plying his trade in Ligue 1 with Marseille.

The midfielder joined the French outfit in January of 2017 from Montpellier, for a fee believed to be around £8m.

And the 26-year-old has since gone on to firmly cement himself as an integral member of Marseille’s side.

All told, Sanson has notched 156 appearances in all competitions for Les Phocéens.

Across these outings, meanwhile, he has provided 22 assists and scored 25 goals, a solid record for a player who generally operates as a central midfielder.

Villas-Boas claims Sanson has interest from England

Amid his latest fine stretch of form of late, though, Sanson is said to be attracting interest from the Premier League.

Recent speculation from England has credited Arsenal with an interest in the Marseille man.

The Gunners could well be eyeing up a cut-price deal for Sanson, with the midfielder’s contract at the Vélodrome having just 18 months left to run.

And now, this weekend, Arsenal, or any other suitor for that matter, appear to have been handed a boost in their pursuit of the Frenchman.

Andre Villas-Boas, manager of Marseille, was recently drawn on the transfer speculation surrounding Sanson.

And the Portuguese tactician, after confirming the interest of English clubs, went on to admit that ‘something could happen’ this month:

“We’ll see. The transfer window is open, Sanson is a player who is highly rated in England.

“Officially, we have not received any offers, unless it happened during the match. He is a boy who interests English teams because of his characteristics, and it is possible that something could happen.”
