AC Milan could field Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomori this weekend

AC Milan could field Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomori this weekend

Tomori’s struggles for action

Fikayo Tomori enjoyed a solid breakout season with Chelsea last time out, notching 22 appearances across all competitions.

As the likes of Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Reece James and more were handed the chance to impress, Frank Lampard appeared to be ushering in a new era at Stamford Bridge.

However, whilst the rest of the aforementioned youngsters have continued to shine under Lampard to this point in the current campaign, Tomori has fallen seriously out of favour.

This comes with Thiago Silva’s summer arrival having taken Chelsea’s central-defensive options to five.

In turn, Tomori has been limited to just four appearances since – only one of which came in the Premier League, lasting just 45 minutes.

His latest showing, meanwhile, came in the form of a 10-minute cameo off the bench in the Blues’ FA Cup drubbing of Morecambe earlier this month.

AC Milan & Tomori

With the winter window now open, and Tomori still down Frank Lampard’s defensive pecking order, in turn, the stopper has unsurprisingly been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

The club most heavily linked have been Serie A outfit AC Milan, with it claimed on Sunday that the Italians are set to sign the young defender on loan with an option to buy:

And now, another update pointing firmly towards Tomori’s imminent arrival at the San Siro has emerged.

As per Zeke Tell, who works for the highly reliable Gianluca Di Marzio, Tomori’s Serie A switch is expected to be announced ‘shortly’, with the Rossoneri potentially set to utilise their loan addition against Atalanta this weekend:
