Mbappe eyeing PSG exit

Kylian Mbappe is, of course, one of, if not the hottest prospect in world football right now.

Despite being just 21, the Frenchman has notched 90 goals and 51 assists in just 124 outings for PSG.

The hitman has also netted 14 for France’s senior side, and played a key role in his country lifting the 2018 World Cup.

However, Mbappe’s stint in Paris could soon be set to come to an end.

Mbappe has just under two years remaining on his current contract.

Recent reports have hinted that the Ligue 1 champions are likely to lose their crown jewel long before 2022, though, amid claims that Mbappe has informed the club that he intends to move on at the end of the current campaign.

Why Mbappe could join Real Madrid

With PSG no doubt set to demand a premium fee for their young star, one would assume that a swoop for Mbappe would only be financially viable for a handful of clubs across Europe.

On that list would presumably by Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid, who love nothing more than a ‘Galactico’ signing.

Now, on Monday, Spanish outlet AS have provided five reasons why Mbappe could join Real Madrid.

Everything outlined in AS’ piece is purely football-related, rather than personal – with the publication assuring that Mbappe is already earning over €20m-per-year at PSG.

The first reason provided comes in the form of Mbappe’s admiration for Real boss Zinedine Zidane – whom the attacker has idolized since he was a small child.

Zidane’s presence would also no doubt be a key factor in Mbappe’s second reason for seeking out a Bernabeu switch, to win the Champions League.

PSG, of course, came up short in 2019/20’s Champions League final. But with Madrid, and Zidane in particular, tournament specialists, Mbappe evidently feels that he would have a better chance of lifting the trophy with Los Blancos.

Should the French international indeed go on to win the Champions League with Real, meanwhile, one would imagine that he would also be in with a shot of winning the Ballon d’Or the same year – just ask Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo. And this is yet another reason why, according to AS, Mbappe could join the Spanish giants.

Finally, AS add that the prospect of playing in a ‘new’ revamped Bernabeu, alongside fellow countrymen such as Karim Benzema and Raphael Varane, could also prove too tempting for Mbappe to pass up.
