Tottenham’s terrible Mousa Dembele injury update before Crystal Palace

Mousa Dembele’s ankle injury v Wolves

Last weekend was supposed to be a celebration for Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele.

Dembele, marking his 250th appearance for the club, was in the Spurs starting XI at Wolves: a match that Tottenham won 3-2.

But Dembele was forced out of the match after just six minutes of action at Molineux.

The midfielder suffered an ankle injury, and on Thursday Spurs fans have received more clarity on the extent of the setback.

Mousa Dembele out for six weeks

According to Belgium news outlet Het Nieuwsblad, Mousa Dembele is looking at six weeks on the sidelines with his ankle problem.

Put another way,  Tottenham fans may have to wait until Christmas to see Dembele back on the pitch.

Het Nieuwsblad make it clear that Dembele is no longer available for the national team in their upcoming Nations League matches against Iceland and Switzerland.

Belgium boss Roberto Martinez has significant injury headaches with Kevin De Bruyne also out of contention.

Man United striker Romelu Lukaku has also been sidelined with a hamstring problem in recent weeks.

Has Mousa Dembele played his last game for Tottenham?

As is common knowledge, 31-year-old Mousa Dembele is out of contract at Spurs at the end of the season.

If Tottenham hope to cash a transfer fee for Dembele, the Lillywhites will need to sell the midfielder in January.

Crystal Palace vs Tottenham

Spurs travel to Crystal Palace this weekend in the Premier League.

In their last home match, Crystal Palace held Arsenal to a 2-2 draw.

However the Eagles have suffered successive defeats to Middlesbrough and Chelsea since the Gunners game.

Spurs will arrive at Selhurst Park on the back of three wins against West Ham, Wolves and PSV.

But Tottenham have significant injury problems as Victor Wanyama (knee) and Eric Dier (thigh) are also on Tottenham’s injury treatment table.

At the back, Jan Vertonghen is out with a thigh injury while Danny Rose has been missing with a groin problem.
