Tottenham’s Pochettino still in Man United frame as Old Trafford line up three signings for £250m

Tottenham’s Pochettino & Man United

Why haven’t Man United already appointed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their new permanent manager?

That topic is picked up by a few tabloids on Sunday.

Solskjaer has worked wonders at Old Trafford since taking over from Jose Mourinho.

Man United have a realistic chance of finishing the season in the top four.

Moreover, Solskjaer lead United to an incredible comeback win over PSG in the Champions League.

But, in the build up to the international break, United were beaten by Arsenal in the league and Wolves in the FA Cup.

When Mourinho was sacked, most assumed that Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino was the number one target for United.

The likes of the Mirror try to convince readers this Sunday that Pochettino could still move to Manchester this summer:

Tottenham fear Manchester United are still interested in Mauricio Pochettino – despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s stunning impact at Old Trafford.

Spurs top brass, including chairman Daniel Levy, are concerned the absence of any word from United means Pochettino may still be a target.

Of course, it’s worth noting that Man United are well within reason to hold off on announcing Solskjaer’s appointment until the end of the season.

It would still be a massive shock if the Norwegian didn’t get the Man United job on a full-time basis.

Man United: three signings for £250m

Sticking in the Mirror, the red top claim Man United could shell out £250m on three new signings this summer.

All three targets are Portuguese youngsters: Joao Felix, Ruben Dias and Bruno Fernandes.

The Mirror claim:

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to sign the best young talent rather than older experienced players.

It’s why he has ordered regular updates on Benfica pair Joao Felix, 19, and Ruben Dias, 21, plus Sporting Lisbon’s 24-year-old Bruno Fernandes.

Leicester’s Harry Maguire

The Star on Sunday also link Man United with a 90 million pound move for Leicester City defender Harry Maguire.

Maguire was linked with the Red Devils last summer too.
