Tottenham’s Jose Mourinho ‘strongly against’ Southgate’s plan to start Harry Kane vs Denmark

England vs Denmark

England’s latest set of fixtures is set to draw to a close on Wednesday evening.

So far, the Three Lions have enjoyed a solid spell, which has seen them pick up two wins from two.

First, Gareth Southgate’s men downed rivals Wales in a friendly clash.

And then, despite a pretty awful first-half display, England went on to beat Belgium 2-1 on Sunday, to take their place atop the country’s Nations League group.

Despite victory over Belgium, however, the race for top spot is very much still up for grabs, so a win over Denmark, who England drew with last time out, is imperative on Wednesday.

Mourinho doesn’t want Kane to start vs Denmark

As a result, Gareth Southgate will no doubt be keen to call upon his strongest possible eleven tomorrow evening.

Such a lineup, one would assume, would include Harry Kane, with the hitman England’s captain and top scorer.

However, should Kane start, it appears as though it is set to create some tension between Jose Mourinho and the England camp.

It has been reported by The Guardian that the Tottenham boss is ‘strongly against’ Southgate’s plan to utilise Kane from the off versus Denmark, with Mourinho said to have communicated his concerns to the national team.

This report comes on the back of claims that tensions were on the rise between Tottenham and England pre-Belgium, as Spurs were said to have been eager for a supposedly injured Kane to leave the Three Lions camp.

However, Southgate went on to assure that the attacker wasn’t injured, before bringing him off the bench vs the Red Devils.
