Tottenham vs Newcastle betting tips: Premier League match preview & predictions

Tottenham vs Newcastle 101 Great Goals’ prediction: Tottenham 4-0 Newcastle

Following Tottenham Hotspur’s backs-to-the-wall performance to earn a massive point away at Manchester City, Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be brimming with confidence.

Having also beaten Aston Villa at home on the opening day of the new season, Spurs are expected to take another three points this Saturday.

However, for Steve Bruce’s Newcastle United, it has been a disappointing start to the new campaign.

The Magpies have lost both of their opening two fixtures, including a 3-1 defeat to newly-promoted Norwich City.

Premier League preview: Tottenham vs Newcastle

Tottenham will be delighted with their start to the new campaign, taking four points from fixtures against Villa and City.

Against Villa, Spurs took their time to find their rhythm, but following a change in formation and Christain Eriksen’s introduction, they managed to turn the game on its head.

New signing Tanguy Ndombele netted a well-struck equaliser before Harry Kane opened his account with a brace.

Ndombele also impressed against Man City, playing a big part in Spurs’ attempts to keep the champions at bay.

Tottenham managed to impressively grind out a draw at the Etihad, despite having just three attempts to City’s 30.

Mauricio Pochettino continued to show his tactical flexibility – something which helped his side reach the Champions League final last season.

Tottenham will face a very different test on Sunday, with Bruce’s side expected to sit deep and try to frustrate them.

Heung-min Son’s pace to unlock the Toon will be a much welcome addition on the weekend, as he returns from suspension.

Bruce’s bad start to life at St James’

It has been a tricky start to life at St James’ Park for Steve Bruce with his side losing their opening two games.

Having put together a positive performance against Arsenal, Newcastle were humiliated at Carrow Road by Norwich.

Teemu Pukki netted a hat-trick for the Canaries as they exposed the frailties of Newcastle’s three-at-the-back system.

In attack, club-record signing Joelinton has struggled to hit the ground running and will be hoping for better luck on Sunday.

After Sunday’s trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, next up for Newcastle is Watford at home.

Getting a result on Sunday could, therefore, be crucial to avoid things quickly turning sour under Bruce.
