Tottenham vs Burnley betting tips: Premier League match preview & predictions

Tottenham vs Burnley 101 Great Goals prediction: Tottenham 2-1 Burnley

Tottenham’s new manager bounce was ended by Manchester United in midweek as Jose Mourinho came a cropper at his former club.

Spurs produced their worst performance under Mourinho so far. Whilst they continue to leak goals, now eight in four under their new boss.

Burnley are just two points behind Tottenham in the Premier League and will play a familiar style under Sean Dyche.

Two defeats on the bounce, coming after two wins, have taken the wind out of Burnley’s sails ahead of this away match.

Tottenham’s top four hopes took another hit in midweek thanks to their 2-1 loss at Old Trafford.

Spurs were never really in the game as Marcus Rashford ran riot with a brace.

It was a chastening evening for Jose Mourinho who got a whack from Daniel James on the touchline in the first half and also saw the limitations of a Harry Winks-Moussa Sissoko double pivot.

Mourinho has done a lot right so far, specifically improving the form of Dele Alli, who scored a wonder goal at Manchester United.

Going forward Spurs have looked strong. But, at the back is where the problems lie for Mourinho. The exact opposite of what was expected.

The big dilemma for Mourinho is whether the Spurs defence is underperforming, or whether the midfield is not offering enough protection.

Despite not performing that well in the previous matches, Tottenham’s lack of midfield control will surely see Eric Dier return here.

Can Burnley get something at Spurs?

Burnley have punched above their weight again this season, but look to be hamstrung by injuries as the campaign gets to its busiest point.

Sean Dyche’s side looked to be flying with back to back 3-0 wins either side of the international break.

But, their last two matches, both at home have been more of a struggle.

The loss to Crystal Palace was much more unexpected. And, somewhat unlucky since most expected goals models had them down as winners.

Tuesday night’s defeat to Manchester City was expected and also played out in much the manner of most teams against the defending champions.

Burnley certainly have enough quality to make this a difficult game for Spurs.

Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes (if fit) will fancy their chances of scoring against the leaky Tottenham defence.

Much will depend if Burnley can keep the likes of Dele Alli, Heung Min Son and Harry Kane quiet.

Tottenham team news vs Burnley

Mourinho will remain without the quartet of Erik Lamela, Hugo Lloris, Michel Vorm and Ben Davies.

He will also have to reconsider his midfield options with the partnership of Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks not working at Old Trafford.

Eric Dier and Tanguy Ndombele are expected to return to the line-up, whilst Giovani Lo Celso could also feature.

Besides the central midfield and defence, the right forward position is also turning problematic for Mourinho with Lucas underperforming in midweek. Perhaps Christian Eriksen will get a start there, to add some guile to the side.

Burnley team news vs Tottenham

Kevin Long, Charlie Taylor, Ashley Barnes and Ashley Westwood are all doubts for the clash, according to Dyche.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Phil Bardsley will both miss out due to injury.
