Nuno responds to Kane absence

Harry Kane has yet to return to Spurs preseason training as planned.

The England forward is effectively out of the first game of the season – ironically against Manchester City – the club looking to sign him.

And new Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo has now broken his silence on the topic.

“It is not that I don’t want to comment — all this issue related to Harry, I believe we should discuss internally among us and try to avoid any kind of public argument or discussion about it,” said Nuno.

“Us, we have to focus on what is important. We have to solve the situation but first between us. We solve the situation internally with the club. Speaking and trying to reach a better solution and conclusion to this situation.”

When asked if he had yet communicated with Kane, Nuno assured that this will be happening soon.

“The answer I will give you is I expect to speak with Harry soon and I haven’t had the chance yet,” he said. “Anything in relation to Harry is internal so first of all we have to first of all solve the problems ourselves and then I will speak with you.”

Bayern want Spurs target

Tottenham had been linked with a move for RB Leipzig midfielder Marcel Sabitzer.

The Austrian international has impressed during his time in Germany, and at 27, with a year left on his deal, is looking towards pastures new.

There is, however, a possibility that he remains in Germany.

Bayern Munich are said to be the team pushing hardest to sign Sabitzer, with former RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann – now on the bench at the Allianz Arena – fully aware of his talents.

Romero soon

Despite bad news elsewhere, Spurs will be comforted by the confirmation that Cristian Romero will be joining.

The Argentinian player will move in a 50 million euro-plus deal, and replace the departed Toby Alderweireld.

Romero has now completed the ‘first part of his medical.’

At a very similar price to what Arsenal paid Brighton for Ben White, there will surely be direct comparisons made between the two.
