Tottenham target Panagiotis Retsos

Tottenham target a defender

Every Spurs fan knows the score: with just a couple of days to go before the start of the new Premier League season, the Lillywhites remain the only club in the top flight yet to make a signing.

Meanwhile, they’ve sold Kyle Walker to Man City while Keiran Trippier is out for the start of the season after he picked up an injury against Juventus in a pre-season friendly.

Tottenham have been linked with a host of defenders during the summer, while the latest name to be added to the possible targets is Olympiakos defender Panagiotis Retsos.

Who is he?

Retsos is a 19-year-old defender, who has represented Greece at U19, U18 and U17 levels.

He can play in all positions along the back line, and he is currently tied to Olympiakos until June 2021.

He became Olympiakos’s youngest ever captain, aged 18, when he got to wear the armband in Greek Cup fixture against Atromitos early this year.

Last season he played 34 games for Olympiakos, while Restos, who was born in Johannesburg, could yet be selected to represent South Africa because he hasn’t made his senior debut for Greece at this point.

Spurs send scouts

According to reports out of Greece, Spurs sent a scout to watch Retsos in action against Partizan Belgrade in the third qualifying round of the Champions League.

The Youngster played the 90 minutes, he picked up a booking, as Olympiakos drew 2-2 to advance 5-3 on aggregate.
