Tottenham Supporters Trust demand meeting with owners amid club crisis

Tottenham lose three on the bounce

After a brilliant (results-wise) start to the season, Tottenham were sitting atop the Premier League table, while their bitter north London rivals were rooted to the foot of the table.

Fast forward just three weeks, and the 3-1 hammering that Spurs took at the hands of the Gunners saw Mikel Arteta’s side move above them in the league, and meant that Spurs had shipped 9 goals in three games, while scoring just a measly one.

Jamie Carragher was quick to point out the issues, which seemed largely systemic in their defeat, and heaps further pressure on Nuno Espirito Santo.

Where do Spurs turn from here?

Tottenham fans demand answers

Two days after the defeat, the Tottenham Supporters Trust announced on their twitter account that they had asked for a meeting with the club hierarchy in an attempt to understand just where the club are going, and how they get there from where they are.

Confusion reigned all summer, with Paulo Fonseca set to be appointed in order to fulfil Daniel Levy’s promise of rediscovering the “Tottenham DNA”, only for him to be snubbed at the eleventh hour.

As Fonseca revealed in a recent interview, this was due to the appointment of director of football Fabio Paratici. Fonseca claimed that:

“Things changed when the new managing director arrived and we didn’t agree with some ideas and he preferred another coach”

This led them to Nuno Espirito Santo, the seventh or eighth name on their list and one that had, astonishingly, already been rejected due to an incompatible style of football.

With such a confused hierarchy in charge of making the appointment, it is perhaps unsurprising that it has panned out in this way, but whether they can get their season back on track in the coming weeks remains to be seen.

Until then, tired Spurs fans demand answers.
