Borussia Dortmund vs Tottenham
If Tottenham win at Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night, Spurs are assured of finishing top of their Champions League group.
That would be a remarkable achievement for Tottenham, who were drawn in the same group as Real Madrid.
Spurs have already booked their spot in the knockout phase of the competition. However Mauricio Pochettino will be keen to finish in first place to give Tottenham the best chance of facing a ‘weaker’ opponent in the last-16.
For the record, Borussia Dortmund have lost four of their last five matches.
Dele Alli to be dropped
According to the Times on Tuesday, it’s predicted that Dele Alli will be omitted from the Tottenham XI in Germany.
Alli has struggled to rediscover his form from last season. He’s only scored three Premier League goals so far, while he’s chipped in with two league assists.
On Saturday in the north London derby defeat at Arsenal, Alli struggled to make any significant impact in the game.
The Times now report that the England international is poised to start the BVB game on the bench:
Pochettino will make several changes to Tottenham’s starting line-up from last weekend’s defeat by Arsenal and Alli could be rested after struggling at the Emirates Stadium, but is likely to be involved at some stage.
Good news for Danny Rose
Danny Rose was left out of Tottenham’s squad for the Arsenal game.
That’s lead to fresh speculation the left-back may soon leave Tottenham.
However, in the short term Rose is expected to receive his fourth start for club and country since his return from injury against Dortmund.
Serge Aurier is also expected to start for Spurs at right wing-back on Wednesday night.
