Could Dier leave Spurs in the summer window?
Tottenham are reportedly prepared to sell midfielder Eric Dier this summer, if the player doesn’t sign a contract extension by then.
The Englishman was somewhat revitalised at the start of Jose Mourinho’s tenure, but has found himself back on the bench of late.
That will no doubt be a concern for Dier, who will be looking to force his way into the England squad for the European Championships this summer.
Dier’s future will also be a concern for Spurs, with his current deal expiring in the summer of 2021.
As a result, reports suggest that the two parties could part ways this summer.
Contract stance could see Dier leave
According to the Mail, Tottenham are preparing to sell Dier this summer, should there be no resolution in contract talks.
They claim: ‘Spurs will sell Eric Dier this summer unless he commits his future to the club.’
It’s then explained that Dier is ‘reluctant’ to sign a new deal, due to his lack of minutes on the pitch.
It’s also said that Dier would prefer to play in central defence, rather than central midfield.
Tottenham were also put in a difficult position with Christian Eriksen recently, where they had to sell him for cheap before his contract expired in the summer.
Now, Daniel Levy is said to be wanting to avoid a similar situation, by forcing Dier out the door with a year remaining on his deal.
No doubt, there would be plenty of Premier League clubs willing to give Dier the playing time that he desires.
