Tottenham plus Manchesters United & City to determine Maurizio Sarri’s fate

Maurizio Sarri & Chelsea

Maurizio Sarri is still in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons after Chelsea lost 6-0 at Man City.

The question hovering over Stamford Bridge is whether Sarri will be fired.

The defeat at City dropped the Blues behind Arsenal into sixth in the league on goal difference.

However Chelsea still have plenty to play for this season.

The Blues are still in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, plus the Europa League.

Moreover, Chelsea are just a point behind fourth-placed Man United in the race for a Champions League berth.

Tottenham, Man United & Manchester City

In the Guardian on Tuesday, Sarri’s future at Chelsea is assessed.

The broadsheet believe that Sarri isn’t in any immediate danger of being sacked.

However, upcoming matches against Spurs, Man United and Man City will prove decisive for Sarri:

Maurizio Sarri’s fate as Chelsea’s head coach will in effect be determined over the remainder of this month.

Chelsea face Manchester United in the fifth round of the FA Cup, Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final and Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League before the month is out, games in which the board will expect to see reasons for optimism.

What’s Roman Abramovich thinking?

Roman Abramovich no longer appears at Chelsea matches.

That’s after the Chelsea owner immigrated to Israel last year amid problems with securing a visa to stay in England.

Following last weekend’s defeat to Man City, Sarri revealed that he never talks to Abramovich.

So was the Russian happy with that comment? According to the Guardian, Abramovich didn’t really care about what Sarri said:

Sarri’s post-match suggestion at the Etihad Stadium, delivered to his country’s media, that he “never hears” from Abramovich was apparently not considered as a slight against the owner.

It is understood that should Sarri indicate he wishes to speak face to face with Abramovich, a meeting could be arranged.

Could Frank Lampard replace Sari?

That question was posed to the Derby County boss on Monday.

Lampard distanced himself from replacing Sarri anytime soon.
