Tottenham no longer interested in Barcelona’s Andre Gomes- Sky

Tottenham to miss out on Gomes

Tottenham have never been a club to spend huge amounts of money on players.

Their most expensive-ever signing is Davinson Sanchez, who Spurs signed from Ajax for a fee of around £36 million.

In today’s inflated transfer market, £36 million isn’t actually that much money, especially for a top-four side to be spending.

Tottenham have also not signed a single first-team player in the previous two transfer windows.

This may have had something to do with them building a new stadium.

But, with the stadium finished, Spurs fans will likely be hoping that their side will actually splash some cash this summer.

One player Tottenham look set to miss out on, though, is Barcelona’s Andre Gomes.

According to Sky Sports, Spurs have ended their interest in the midfielder. Barca are said to want between £25-35 million for him.

The report from Sky also mentions that the North London club will not be signing Jack Grealish either.

Grealish is believed to have been a target of Mauricio Pochettino’s last summer, but now that Aston Villa will be plying their trade in the PL next season, the midfielder looks set to stay on as their captain.

West Ham still in the Gomes picture

One team still said to be in the race for Gomes, however, are West Ham.

Sky claims that the Hammers have already had one £18 million bid rejected for the 25-year-old, but that they are still keen to sign him.

Everton are also still being linked with Gomes in recent weeks.

Gomes spent the 2018/19 season on loan with the Toffees. During that time, he made 27 league appearances, scoring one and assisting one.
