Tottenham Hotspur are expected to complete the signing of Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish before the club departs for its pre-season tour of the United States this summer, according to Football.London.
The Birmingham Mail understand that a deal will be finalised once the two clubs have reached an agreement over a fee for the player.
The Villans are under pressure to sell Grealish with the club needing to raise around £40m in funds amid their ongoing financial troubles.
Grealish’s departure imminent
The Championship club are holding out for around £30m for the Englishman’s signature, however, Spurs, the club leading the race to land him, are hoping to sign him for considerably less.
Negotiations are currently ongoing between Villa and Spurs, with the details in place between the player and the North London club for the deal to be complete.
Chairman Daniel Levy is looking to take advantage of Villa’s current financial situation by agreeing a fee lower than their £30m demands.
Tottenham lead chase
Tottenham are now the only club remaining in the race to sign the player who hold a serious interest in signing Grealish this summer.
Mauricio Pochettino is keen to sign the 22-year-old having been impressed by his form during the 2017/2018 season and Spurs are now looking to take advantage of the Midland club’s financial situation.
Spurs hope to have completed a deal for Grealish before they jet off on their pre-season tour of the USA which is due to commence on July 25.
