Tottenham hope to offload flop Moussa Sissoko to Ligue 1 club

Sissoko set for exit

Tottenham could be set to offload Moussa Sissoko after just one season with Marseille interested.

The Evening Standard claims that the financially powerful Ligue 1 club are ready to bring the France international home despite his struggles last season. Spurs splashed £30 million on the then Newcastle player last summer.

At the time it seemed like a bad idea. A year later it seems like an even sillier gamble.

Tottenham flop

Sissoko had just come off the back of an impressive Euro 2016 with France. However, his last season with Newcastle highlighted what an infuriating player he was. Fans criticised him for being lazy and selfish.

At his best, he’s a powerhouse in the centre of the park, charging back and forth like a raging bull.

Unfortunately for Spurs, he was rarely at his best during his debut campaign with them.

Just two assists and no goals in 32 appearances makes for grim reading.

If Spurs sell him in the summer, it’s almost certainly going to be at a loss. Marseille want him on an initial loan deal. They’ve already signed Clinton Njie from Mauricio Pochettino’s side in this window.
