Tottenham fans take aim at one player (again) vs Stoke

Supporters of Tottenham have this afternoon taken to social media to slate goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, after his poor clearance allowed Stoke’s Mame Biram Diouf to find the net during the clash between the sides.

The Potters welcomed Spurs to the Bet365 Stadium with the knowledge that their hopes of remaining in the Premier League were becoming slimmer by the week.

Ahead of kick-off this afternoon, Paul Lambert’s men sat 2 places and 3 points off 17th-placed Crystal Palace in the English top-flight table, having failed to pick up 3 points in any of their last 8 league outings.

Tottenham, meanwhile, came into today’s clash full of confidence, having put London rivals Chelsea to the sword by 3 goals to 1 in their last fixture, pushing Mauricio Pochettino’s men a full 8 points clear of the Blues in the race for the final Champions League spot for next season.

The first-half this afternoon saw clear-cut chances few and far between, with Stoke doing an impressive job of keeping Tottenham’s array of attacking talent at bay.

However, the second-half saw the fixture burst into life, with Christian Eriksen having given the visitors the lead with a drilled finish following a perfect layoff from Dele Alli.

And it was 2-0 a short time later, as a devilish whipped free-kick from the influential Eriksen found its way into the far corner of Jack Butland’s goal, with Harry Kane wheeling away in celebration.

The English hitman claims to have managed to get a touch on the delivery with his head, though the contact, if any, was minimal.

Either way, Spurs looked in control of things at 2 goals in front.

‘Fed up’

But the game was not decided yet, as a mistake from Hugo Lloris allowed Stoke back into proceedings.

The French goalkeeper, who has come in for major criticism of late, was sent into a one-on-one race with Mame Biram Diouf after the Senegalese attacker broke the away side’s offside trap, with Lloris kicking his attempted clearance straight into the face of Diouf.

As such, the latter was left with the simple task of slotting home into an empty net.

Though the mistake didn’t prove costly in terms of the result on the day, Spurs’ supporters have nevertheless taken to Twitter in their numbers to slate Lloris, after his 5th mistake of the Premier League campaign which has directly resulted in a goal:
