Dele Alli v Real Madrid

Tottenham’s Dele Alli receives his Burnley ban verdict

Burnley 0 – Tottenham 3

Harry Kane was the star of the show for Tottenham on Saturday at Burnley.

England’s best striker scored all three goals as Spurs won at Turf Moor.

After Dele Alli hit the deck in the Burnley box, Kane opened from the penalty.

In the second half he scored two more, while Tottenham missed a boatload of chances to extend the scoreline further.

Dele Alli’s two controversial moments

Once again Dele Alli hit the headlines for the wrong reasons after the Burnley game.

Last weekend, in the 4-1 defeat at Man City, Alli was at the centre of two incidents.

He was accused of stamping on Fernandinho while he also stomped on Kevin De Bruyne’s ankle.

Alli again had two problematic moments in the first half against Burnley.

Within the opening few minutes of the game, Dele Alli put in a shocking challenge on Burnley’s Charlie Taylor.

Dele went to ground way too early and could well have received a red card from referee Michael Oliver.

The Spurs midfielder was only booked after four minutes and then significantly impacted the game three minutes later.

Alli went down in the box from a challenge by Kevin Long and Spurs had a penalty.

On another day, Dele could have received a second booking for diving after seven minutes.

Dele Alli’s ban verdict

On Sunday it’s been reported that Dele Alli will face no retrospective action for his performance against Burnley.

That will be a blessing for Tottenham as the fixture list whirrs up.

Tottenham, fifth in the Premier League, take on Southampton on Boxing Day at Wembley.

Southampton striker Charlie Adam will miss the match as he starts a three match ban after a foul versus Huddersfield.

Spurs start the new year with an away trip to Swansea.
