Tottenham defender Eric Dier reveals what Antonio Conte did for his Spurs initiation

Tottenham gamble on Antonio Conte

For the second time in three managerial appointments, Tottenham Hotspur gambled on a former Chelsea title winner to be their next manager.

Antonio Conte, fresh off the back of a title win with Inter Milan, was courted in the summer to no avail but was finally persuaded to take the job in the wake of Nuno Espirito Santo’s sacking.

However, while things have improved somewhat, there have still been severe road bumps, most notably a shock defeat to Slovenian side NS Mura in the Europa Conference League that has left the Lilywhites needing to beat so far unbeaten Rennes in order to progress from their group.

Indeed, Conte even went as far as to say after the game:

‘After three weeks I am starting to understand the situation.’

‘It is not simple.’

‘At this moment the level at Tottenham is not so high.’

‘I am happy to stay here but we have to work a lot to improve the quality of the squad.’

‘We are Tottenham but there is an important gap with the top teams but I am not scared.’

However, it appears that Conte is here to stay nonetheless.

Conte’s initiation antics revealed

Now, speaking to Football Daily, Eric Dier has revealed what Conte did when it came to his Tottenham initiation.

As per the England defender, it was Italian classics that Conte and his coaching staff whipped out in front of the player, much to their approval.

Indeed, he claims:

“They sang with the same passion that they have for football so it was enjoyable.”

Safe to say, it is a side of Conte that few see.
