Tottenham Hotspur have this evening been dealt a major blow on the injury-front, after Moussa Sissoko was forced off during the capital outfit’s clash with Manchester United.
Spurs vs Man United
Mauricio Pochettino’s men welcomed in-form United to Wembley this afternoon, for a Premier League matchup.
Hosts Tottenham came into proceedings on the back of 9 wins from their last 11 across all competitions, with the North Londoners having bounced back from their shock loss at home to Wolves 2 weeks ago with 3 straight wins.
Manchester United, meanwhile, have embarked on a scintillating run of form of their own of late. Since Jose Mourinho’s sacking and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s subsequent appointment last month, the Red Devils have picked up 5 straight victories.
And United carried their recent brilliance into the first-half of this evening’s clash, with a superb showing over the opening 45 minutes in the English capital having seen the visitors take the lead on the stroke of the interval.
After Spurs gave the ball away cheaply in midfield, Paul Pogba set Marcus Rashford free with an inch-perfect through-ball.
And the English hitman, who has been handed a new lease of life since Solskjaer’s arrival at Old Trafford, drove on, before driving home a superb finish past the outstretched arm of Hugo Lloris to put the Red Devils in front.
Tottenham, for their part, largely disappointed over the course of the opening 45 minutes.
And the struggles of the North Londoners were compounded by a blow on the injury-front as the half came to a close.
After attempting to burst down the right wing, Moussa Sissoko pulled up suddenly in clear pain.
The French midfielder, who has been in fantastic form of late, appeared to tweak his groin, and, after attempting to run off his problem, was eventually forced off to be replaced by Erik Lamela.
