Spurs lead Barcelona in race for Sanabria
Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham are in advanced negotiations for Roma forward Antonio Sanabria, according to Spanish newspaper Sport.
Having spent four years at the Barcelona youth academy between 2009-2013, the 20-year-old Paraguayan striker impressed on loan at Sporting Gijón last season and Barcelona have reportedly been in contact over a possible move.
However, Antonio Sanabria has reportedly grown frustrated whilst Barcelona pursue other attacking options including Nolito and Kevin Gamiero.
Attracted to the opportunity of Champions League football at a top Premier League club, Sanabria has reportedly rejected a big money offer from Rubin Kazan.
Capped six times by Paraguay, he is expected to cost Tottenham around £11.5m and would provide much-needed competition for star striker Harry Kane.
Loanee Antonio Sanabria was Sporting Gijon’s top scorer last season, netting eleven goals in 27 La Liga games.
Preparing to challenge in the Champions League next season, Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama is set to sign for Spurs in an £11m deal over the next few days.
