Tottenham blow: Club provide Jan Vertonghen injury update

Jan Vertonghen for layoff

Tottenham have provided an update on Jan Vertonghen after he sustained a hamstring injury against Huddersfield last month.

The Belgian had to be substituted in the game that took place on 29 September and there were questions over when he would be back.

Spurs have several big games coming up and would have liked Vertonghen back in their line-up.

They have two Champions League clashes with PSV Eindhoven as well as league games against West Ham and Manchester City.

They will also face off against West Ham again in the Carabao Cup last 16.

Though, it looks as though they will be without Jan Vertonghen for all of those games and several more.

“Returning to full training by December”

That is because Tottenham have released a statement on their website confirming how long he will be out for.

They claim that they hope he will be in full training by December.

While that could be positive in some senses, with the games that are coming up, they could have done with him back earlier.

You can see the full statement from the Tottenham website below.

Jan Vertonghen sustained a hamstring injury against Huddersfield Town on 29 September, which has been monitored closely over the past 12 days.

Further investigation has shown a good initial response to rehabilitation.

The Belgium international defender will now continue his recovery with a view to returning to full training by December.
