Tottenham vs Manchester United
Sunday’s Premier League clash between Tottenham and Man United is set to serve one specific narrative.
Will Mauricio Pochettino leave Spurs to move to Old Trafford this summer.
Although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has won his first five matches with United, most still believe the club will turn elsewhere wwhen it comes to appointing a new manager this summer.
Tottenham’s Pochettino is widely rumoured to be at the top of United’s list.
But Pochettino is under contract at Spurs until 2023, while the club are on the verge of moving into their new stadium.
Gareth Southgate alternative to Mauricio Pochettino
In the Telegraph on Sunday, it’s reported that Man United have an alternative if they can’t get Pochettino.
England manager Gareth Southgate is reported a name being considered for the Old Trafford post.
Southgate had a wonderful 2018 with England.
Not only did the Three Lions reach the World Cup semi-finals, but England are also through to the Nations League final four.
Would Southgate want to leave England for Man United? The Telegraph report:
Southgate signed a new contract with the Football Association in October that takes him to the 2022 World Cup finals and he would be no means certain to accept a job elsewhere in the interim.
The England manager is committed to the national team and although United represents the biggest job in English club football he may well believe that, at 48, it could come around for him again.
Other names on Man United’s list
Who would United turn to if neither Pochettino or Southgate are available?
The Telegraph include a few other names in their article.
Zinedine Zidane’s name is dropped into the frame, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also a possibility.
Is the pool of managers that shallow?
