Top 3 Brighton players to sign on FPL 2021/22

The best Brighton picks of FPL 2021/22

Brighton would finish the 2020/21 campaign sitting 16th in the Premier League.

As a result, it would be easy to assume that the Seagulls do not have that many great picks for your Fantasy Premier League side this season.

However, Graham Potter’s squad actually boasts several really solid budget options which you may wish to select this year.

Brighton’s attacking assets are probably ones to avoid as, whilst they did create a lot of chances last season, and had a high xG as a result, the Seagulls ultimately struggled to put their opportunities away.

Brighton scored 40 goals in the league throughout 2020/21, the 15th lowest in the top-flight. However, they had the 7th highest xG overall, and the 5th highest when playing at home.

This suggests that, whilst plenty of chances were created, their strikers were simply not clinical and, hence, should be avoided in your team.

They do, on the other hand, boast some very appealing defensive options, though.

Robert Sanchez, goalkeeper (4.5m)

The first of these is goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

With Emiliano Martinez now costing 5.5m, FPL fans are once again looking for the next 4.5m gem to put between the sticks.

And Robert Sanchez could be just that. Sanchez did not start last season as Brighton’s no.1, but after taking over from Maty Ryan, put on some stellar displays.

In just 27 league appearances, the Spaniard was able to keep a very impressive 10 clean sheets, and a similar return over a 38-game season this time around would make Sanchez well worth the money.

Also, considering his price, you may want to either keep Sanchez as your undisputed no.1, or rotate him with another budget option like Daniel Bachmann.

Tariq Lamptey, defender (4.5m)

The next Brighton asset you may wish to consider for your side is Tariq Lamptey.

The 20-year-old would miss a good part of 2020/21 with an injury. But before this, Lamptey was in fine form for the Seagulls.

The right-back scored one and assisted three in just 11 league games last term. As such, if he too can keep up that sort of form across a full campaign, the youngster will prove well worth the money.

Lamptey’s price also means that it is fairly easy to rotate him with one or more other 4.5m-priced defenders. To learn more about this year’s 4.5m FPL defenders, and their value, check out this article.

Lewis Dunk, defender (5.0m)

The final Brighton player whom you should consider for your FPL side is Lewis Dunk.

Dunk is slightly more expensive than Lamptey at 5.0m, but he is a very reliable option and guaranteed to get you a decent return across the season.

Brighton, despite finishing last season 16th, would concede just 46 times in the Premier League, the joint-lowest of any side in the bottom half of the table, and fewer than Everton, Leeds, West Ham and Leicester.

Dunk is also a threat from set-pieces, and managed five league goals last season, the most of any defender in the division.
