Tony Adams jokes about coming out of retirement for Granada

First game in charge

The former Arsenal captain was a surprise managerial appointment for the relegation contenders last week.

Adams took charge of his first La Liga match on Sunday, losing 3-0 at home to Celta Vigo.

Granada are 2nd from bottom, eight points from safety with eight matches remaining.

After the match, Adams admitted he was aware of the challenge his side faced and even joked about coming out of retirement.

“We’re all aware of our limitations. We’re running out of forwards. I’m going to have to get my boots on,” Adams said.

Adams’ side only have 9 permanent members in their squad, with the rest all on loan.

Mr. Arsenal retired from professional football at the Gunners in 2002.
