Tony Adams’ time at Granada has been interesting to say the least. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been all that successful…
For the most part, no one could really figure out why the Liga strugglers opted for Arsenal legend Adams in the first place. And they’ll surely be regretting their decision now…
After being caught dishing out some bizarre looking instructions both pitchside and at Granada training sessions, the one-time Portsmouth boss never really looked at home in Spain.
A less than stellar start saw his new charges lose their opening three league games, while Juanmi’s late strike for Real Sociedad this afternoon means that Granada have gone a perfect 0-4 under Adams and been officially relegated to the Segunda Division.
However, speaking at a press conference following today’s tough loss, Adams was keen to take a positive outlook on proceedings moving forward:
‘We have made mistakes this season, that’s why we’re where we are. For instance, if the team played like this at the beginning of the season, there’s no way we’d be in this situation. I thought they were incredible today, but it’s not a day for incredible, it’s too late, you’re down, you’re finished, it’s over.’
‘We’ve got a lot of those players in that dressing room, we’re going to be some team in the second division, so the future is bright and we are not making mistakes any more.’
‘We think that we can build a very successful club at Granada and rebound as quickly as possible, but for everyone today, it’s not about that.’
