Silva’s reign gets off to slow start
Tom Davies has discussed Everton’s struggles during Marco Silva’s first season after another defeat at the hands of Manchester City on Wednesday.
It was never expected that the Toffees would get a result against City but the same old cracks appeared.
Everton conceded from another set piece, something which has plagued them since the start of the campaign.
Silva has deployed zonal marking since joining the Toffees and it’s clear at the moment that his players aren’t up to it.
That has been emphasised by the fact they have conceded from five set pieces over the past three matches.
Now, youngster Tom Davies has spoken following the loss to Manchester City and he’s not too happy.
‘It’s not good enough’
Davies started by explaining that the team are disappointed by the way the conceded the first goal.
‘We were obviously gutted. It’s not good enough,’ Davies explained to the Daily Mail.
‘We are disappointed with it, of course. That’s twice now in the last two games just before half-time.
He then went on to explain that it’s been a tough time for Everton over the past couple of months.
Though, Davies admitted if they play like they did against City, they could cause problems vs Watford this weekend.
‘It’s been a tough period for us really,’ he continued.
‘In all aspects, we just haven’t been able to get the performances together as a team and a group.
‘Every day we’re trying to work on it and come up with solutions but it’s been hard.
‘We’ve had a close few games where, if decisions or goals had gone our way, we might have got ourselves out of it but nothing has fallen our way.
‘If we put in a similar performance (against Watford) we will cause them problems.’
