Timo Werner can leave Leipzig for €60 million with Liverpool keen – Falk

Will Werner join up with Jurgen Klopp?

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner, with the German having a €60 million release clause in his contract.

Werner has been tearing up the Bundesliga for several seasons now.

Since joining Leipzig back in 2016, Werner has scored a whopping 86 goals for the club, while also assisting 37.

It’s also worth remembering that the German striker is still just 23 years old.

Due to his performances in Germany and in Europe, Werner has been consistently linked with a move away from Leipzig.

Chelsea have previously been linked, as have Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

Despite multiple reports, a move is yet to come to fruition.

That, though, could change in the summer transfer window.

Will Liverpool trigger Werner’s release clause?

According to SportBILD journalist Christian Falk, Liverpool (or more specifically Jurgen Klopp) are interested in signing Timo Werner this summer.

Even more interestingly, Falk claims that Werner has a release clause of around €60 million.

That means that RB Leipzig would be left powerless if Liverpool were to meet that figure.

However, it remains to be seen whether they would go that high in their pursuit of Werner, especially with the German not guaranteed to start every game.

“I can still contemplate my future later”

Speaking on his future recently, Werner kept his cards very close to his chest.

He explained that he’s staying focused for the time being, but will then ‘contemplate my future later’.

“When you score 20 goals as a 23-year-old in a season then, of course, there is interest. That’s clear,” he explained.

“But, right now, I am not thinking about what happens in the future.

“We are going into many important games. That’s what I want to focus on now. I can still contemplate my future later.”
