Thomas Tuchel provides positive updates on N’Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic ahead of Porto Champions League first leg

Thomas Tuchel provides positive updates on N’Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic ahead of Porto Champions League first leg

Trio Fit

Chelsea head to Seville this afternoon in advance of their Champions League quarter-final first-leg on Wednesday evening.

The Blues had been on a great run of form based on a solid defensive foundation.  However, that all came crashing down on Saturday when they suffered a shock defeat 5-2  at home to West Brom.

Ahead of the game, Thomas Tuchel has been speaking to the media and has updated on the fitness of N’Golo Kante, Christian Pulisic and Tammy Abraham.

In what is positive news, it seems recent injuries to Kante and Pulisic have proved to be minor and both are available for the game.

Good Character

Tuchel also addressed the story regarding the training ground bust-up between Antonio Rudiger and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

“It was not serious. It was an incident in training and got heated between Toni and Kepa, said Tuchel.

“We calmed the situation down immediately. I don’t want to play things down artificially but they can happen because everyone is competitive in training matches. “

“The reaction to it (from Toni and Kepa) was amazing. They showed how much respect they have for each other. They cleared the air and there was nothing left one day after. The situation was serious but they way they guys handled it after was impressive.

“We spoke about the issue and then it solved. This is the main part. It will stay with us, it wasn’t awkward. They solved it straight after training in an honest humble way and it showed me they have good character.”

He also confirmed there would be “no punishment” to either player.

“The reaction was immediate, they made it clear for everybody what happened. Antonio sorted it out directly which was necessary. It was a strong and brave thing to do and the right thing to do.”

“It cleared the air immediately and made it clear to the club and me that we were happy with how they dealt with it. These are things we don’t like to accept but for this situation, there will be no more punishment.”
