Thomas Tuchel provides N’Golo Kante injury update post-Tottenham

The Frenchman could be in line for a spell on the sidelines


Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has, on Sunday evening, provided an insight into the wellbeing of N’Golo Kante.

The Blues, of course, were back in action a short time ago.

On the back of a Premier League opening day downing of Everton, Tuchel and co. welcomed capital rivals Tottenham to Stamford Bridge, hoping to make it two wins on the spin.

And, with just seconds remaining on the clock in west London, all three points is precisely what Chelsea appeared to be headed towards.

With a full 96 minutes on the clock, however, the Pensioners faithful were silenced, as a whipped corner from the right was nodded home by Harry Kane, to ensure that Spurs departed with a hard-fought share of the spoils.

The decisive equaliser, which came amid controversial circumstances, gave rise to utter chaos on the back of the full-time whistle, as a heated exchange between Tuchel and Antonio Conte culminated in both sets of players, and members of staff becoming embroiled in an on-pitch scuffle.

Speaking to the media post-match, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his back-and-forth with counterpart Conte took centre stage:

Also front and centre on the agenda, though, as alluded to above, was the situation of N’Golo Kante.

Amid the madness late on at Stamford Bridge, French international Kante limping out of proceedings with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.

And his manager’s ensuing update did not prove overly reassuring, with Tuchel having confirmed that Kante’s issue currently feels ‘pretty strong’:
