Thomas Partey makes brutal Arsenal form admission ahead of Everton clash

Thomas Partey makes brutal Arsenal form admission ahead of Everton clash

Thomas Partey, Arsenal’s key?

Thomas Partey arrived at Arsenal from Atletico Madrid to much fanfare last summer, but has failed to set the world alight since.

After an injury-littered first season, in which Partey made just 24 Premier League appearances, and just 18 starts, the Ghanaian has struggled to reach the heights expected from him when he moved to north London.

That has continued this season, where the absence of Granit Xhaka has worsened the already heavy burden on Partey to control Arsenal’s midfield single-handedly.

So, how does he think he has performed?

“I have to learn”: Partey’s frank admission

Now, speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the clash with Everton on Monday night, Partey was asked about his Arsenal career, and made a damning admission that Arsenal fans will love.

Asked to rate his career in north London out of 10, Partey revealed:

“Personally, I would say 5/6 [out of 10], but with the marks of the people also I would give myself a 4, because there are moments in the game where I can be really hurting the other team, and there are moments where I allow myself, because I am not yet adapted to the Premier League, maybe I lose a bit of focus, and everything goes down.”

Meanwhile, quizzed on his Manchester United performance at Old Trafford last time out, Partey claimed:

“From the start, I had a couple of moments where I gave two balls away, and someone watching the TV from home or someone watching in the stadium, it is normal that they see this, but at the end I have to be happy with some moments, I have to learn from the bad part and try to do more better. They [the fans] demanded more, and personally I know I can give more, so I have to keep working and at the end I will get the results.”

The Arsenal fulcrum then outlined where he feels he needs to improve going forwards, saying:

“From the defence to the attack, I can help the team a lot. I have to read the game more. Now I am having a lot of continuous games, I think it is normal that some games, or some moments in the game, I will be down but I think with more games, and with more confidence, I will be able to get to where I want to be”

Will Gunners fans see a better Partey going through this season?
