Arsene Wenger then & now

Thierry Henry blasted for disrespecting departing Arsenal boss Wenger

Arsenal fans were ready to say goodbye to their long serving manager as they played Burnley, and gave Arsene Wenger a guard of honour and a big sending off – and Arsenal players of the past were all there.

That is, the majority of them were – apart from Thierry Henry, who was in Manchester as City were officially presented with the Premier League trophy.

Some fans understood that Henry was of course working for Sky Sports, who are without Jamie Carragher after his suspension, and had to be there and not at the Emirates, with the Sky games probably allocated to different pundits far earlier in the season and it being too late to find cover this point, yet some of them were fuming.

There were even suggestions that one of Wenger’s biggest players should simply tell the broadcaster he didn’t want to present for them this weekend – and that he should have been there, and was betraying Wenger and everything the Frenchman had done for him by failing to turn up – although of course the former striker will have spoken to Wenger privately and said what he needed to say – and may make it down for any evening celebrations.
