Courtois hits back at the Spanish press
Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has hit back at the Spanish press by claiming he’s still “one of the best” despite several mistakes this season.
Courtois hasn’t got his Real Madrid career off to a great start.
The former Chelsea star has made several high-profile mistakes for Los Blancos and has been one of the many reasons Real Madrid have struggled so much this campaign.
It’s not just for his country that Courtois has been struggling, though.
That is because the goalkeeper made his latest high-profile mistake during Belgium’s clash with Russia on Thursday.
Courtois hesitated for too long with the ball at his feet in his own box, with Artem Dzyuba taking the ball off him, rounding the goalkeeper and placing the ball into an empty net.
Now, after further criticism, Courtois has made a pretty big claim.

“I still consider myself one of the best…”
The Belgian goalkeeper claims that he still considers himself ‘one of the best’, even if the Spanish press ‘wants to kill me’.
“I still consider myself one of the best, even though the Spanish press wants to kill me, I feel very strong, I’m calm because I train well and play well,” he explained, as quoted by MARCA.
“Cheryshev nudges me and I ran out of strength to clear the ball, it was a little mistake, but that’s the goalkeeper’s life, despite that, afterwards I kept calm and made my game .
“You always learn from mistakes.”
