Thiago Silva to Everton seems a non-starter after 50% wage cuts
On Tuesday, the likes of the Daily Mail tickled Everton fans with a rumour that Thiago Silva could arrive at Goodison Park.

That rumour appeared after Thiago Silva, 33, has been told he can leave PSG at the end of the season.
The 35-year-old PSG club captain is out of contract at the end of the season, and L’Equipe confirmed that the club will not offer him an extension.
Thiago Silva has spent 8 seasons in Paris.
PSG have told club captain Thiago Silva his contract won’t be extended following the completion of their Champions League campaign, according to @lequipe

On a possible move to Everton, the Mail claimed:
(Carlo) Ancelotti and Everton are interested in making a move for him in what would be a bargain free transfer.
The duo worked together when Ancelotti was PSG manager between 2011 and 2013.
However, Everton fans will have to wonder if the club have the finances to sign Thiago Silva, even as a free agent.
On the player’s next port of call, ESPN have noted:
Sources have told ESPN that Silva still believes he has the ability to play for another top European club and would be willing to take a cut on his €211,000-per-week existing wage to do so.
The defender believes he must stay in Europe so that he can be apart of Brazil’s 2022 World Cup squad in Qatar.
The size of Thiago Silva’s wages – even with a pay cut – are surely out of Everton’s reach following news on Tuesday night that the Toffees have taken huge wage cuts during the Covid-19 crisis.
It’s been confirmed that Everton’s squad have agreed to voluntary wage deferrals of up to 50 per cent for the next three months.
Carlo Ancelotti, and the club’s other employees, have also taken pay cuts.
Everton’s first team squad is voluntarily taking wage deferrals of upto 50% for the next three months to offset the financial impact of coronavirus.Carlo Ancelotti, coaching staff, directors and senior execs taken reductions & deferrals of upto 30% since the start of pandemic.

Everton owner Farhad Moshiri and chairman Bill Kenwright have also matched the £400,000 raised through season ticket refund donations [each donated £200,000]. With £800,000 now going to the club’s Blue Family community initiative which has benefited more than 6,000 families.

Could Thiago Silva join Wolves or Arsenal?
In a sign that Thiago Silva may be out of Everton’s reach, the Brazilian has also been linked with Arsenal and Wolves.
Those links, we have to be honest, also seem rather weak right now.
On the Wolves rumour, Birmingham Live reporter Ryan Leister has argued that Silva’s age makes the deal unlikely.
#wwfc | Opinion on Thiago Silva link
As flattering as it is to be linked with a player like Thiago Silva, I’m not sure signing someone who is nearly 36 is the #wwfc way under Fosun.
Huge wages that I’d rather put towards keeping what we have or signing more youthful additions.

As for Arsenal, Thiago Silva is reportedly being considered as a replacement for David Luiz, who the Times have claimed is a target for Zenit St Petersburg.

Liverpool derby may be played at Southampton
The location for the upcoming Everton vs Liverpool derby is still unknown.
While many believe the game should be held at Goodison Park, as scheduled, the Athletic have confirmed a plan B is in place: Southampton.
The Merseyside derby could be played at Southampton’s St Mary’s Stadium if the fixture does not receive the necessary safety certificate to be held at Goodison Park a week on Sunday, The Athletic can reveal.
Southampton lined up to host the Merseyside derby if it can’t be held at Goodison Park.
Safety Advisory Group to meet this morning.
Other grounds under consideration as contingency for neutral venues: Wembley, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, King Power. https://t.co/tj3LK8gZeR
