The two Premier League clubs eyeing a January move for Eden Hazard revealed

Hazard struggling in Madrid

Since achieving his dream move to Real Madrid in 2019, it has been a horrible two years for Eden Hazard.

Joining Los Blancos as their latest marquee addition, the 30-year-old Belgian has managed just 5 goals and 9 assists in 53 appearances for the Spanish side, a poor return based on the £103 million reportedly spent on him.

He was left out entirely for the most recent El Clasico, despite being fully fit, with Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti having admitted that Hazard was out of favour with the Italian after their narrow victory.

For Hazard, his stock has never been lower.

Two clubs chase the Belgian’s signature in January

As a result of such struggles, it is not inconceivable to envision Eden Hazard making a return to the Premier League, where he enjoyed such great success with Chelsea, ahead of the 2022 World Cup.

And, as per ESPN journalist James Olley, there are two clubs that could battle it out for his signature, should the attacker become available. The first, perhaps unsurprisingly, is thought to be Chelsea, who are missing creativity from wide areas due to the fitness problems faced by Christian Pulisic and the form of Hakim Ziyech.

The other? Newly taken-over Newcastle. It seems like a far fetched idea, given that the Magpies currently find themselves in the relegation zone, but should their new owners wish to make a statement, a move for Hazard would certainly fit the bill.

Much would surely depend on the calibre of manager at the club, and the other transfer business done, but it is certainly one to watch out for.

Chelsea fans, would you want Eden Hazard back at Stamford Bridge, and if so, would it be for anything other than sentimental value?
