The Sun say Harry Kane may leave Tottenham if they lose to Arsenal

The big match in the Premier League on Sunday is the north London derby between Tottenham and Arsenal.

Spurs are 10th in the league on 49 points, while Arsenal have 50 points in 8th.

Ahead of the NLD, the Sun on Sunday have proclaimed that Harry Kane may leave Spurs if they lose to the Gunners.

According to reporter Phil Thomas, “the result of Sunday’s North London derby could be pivotal to the future of Harry Kane.”

Apparently, “Kane is growing sick” of Tottenham’s slide in form this season. The club have gone from playing in the Champions League final to looking like they’ll miss out on European football next season.

Why Kane is unlikely to quit Spurs anytime soon

While the Sun seem intent of scaring Tottenham fans with suggestions Kane may soon leave, the reality is that that’s unlikely to happen.

Kane’s future has been the subject of speculation in recent months. Now 26, Kane has indicated he may want to leave Spurs.

Yet, the likelihood of Kane leaving Spurs this summer appears super slim.

Back in 2018, Kane signed a 6-year deal with Spurs. That deal only expires in 2024.

Accordingly, the Athletic have previously suggested that Tottenham chief exec, Daniel Levy, would only consider selling Kane for a fee of 15o to 200 million pounds.

Considering the current financial situation during the coronavirus pandemic, which club in world football could pay Spurs that asking price?

Man City could afford Kane, but they already have Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus.

Man United could pay Tottenham’s asking price. But United seem to be chasing Jack Grealish and Jadon Sancho.

Elsewhere, Chelsea have already signed Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, Real Madrid don’t seem to have the finances, while PSG have completed the signing of Mauro Icardi.

Bottom line: while the Sun attempt to stoke the Kane transfer rumours, there simply doesn’t appear to be any realistic suitor for the English centre-forward.

Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney unlikely to join Leicester

A little over a month ago, rumours surfaced that Kieran Tierney could leave Arsenal to join Leicester City this summer.

At the time those stories circled, Tierney was still hampered by injury.

Also, reports had begun to bubble up that Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell is a summer target for Chelsea.

Putting two and two together to cook up a transfer rumour, reporter Duncan Castles claimed on the Transfer Window podcast that should Chilwell sign for Chelsea, Tierney could move to Leicester.

For the record, Arsenal signed Tierney in a 25 million pound deal last summer. The defender is under contract until 2024.

Prior to Sunday’s NLD, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has shut down any suggestion that Tierney could leave the club less than a year after signing from Celtic.

Tierney, who now seems clear of his injury problems, has begun impressing at the Gunners.

That’s lead Arteta to say the following about Tierney’s future:

He’s not going anywhere. I really like him.

I’m very impressed him. Everybody loves him at the club and he earns that every single day with the way he treats people, the way he works and the energy he brings to the place.

And then with his performances, I am delighted. He has adapted really well, he is a player that gives you everything in every session and every game. And the quality he has added as well.

He’s still so young, he has things to improve obviously but he’s been a great addition to the team.
