The latest on Man United’s Mauricio Pochettino stance ahead of Rangnick appointment

The latest on Man United’s Mauricio Pochettino stance ahead of Rangnick appointment

An insight into Manchester United’s managerial plans beyond next summer has been provided on Thursday evening.

Rangnick incoming

The subject of the bench at Old Trafford has of course proven headline news across the day to date.

This comes with a major development in not only United’s managerial plans, but sporting project as a whole, having been forthcoming altogether out of the blue.

Owing to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s dismissal last weekend, those in a position of power at Old Trafford were of course faced with the delicate task of bringing in the kind of mind capable of condemning a near-decade’s worth of poor decisions both on the pitch and off to the history books.

And, in the eyes of most, on Thursday, the Red Devils took a considerable step in the right direction towards precisely that.

As confirmed by a host of reliable sources, United are on the verge of unveiling footballing savant Ralf Rangnick as the club’s next manager.

The German is expected to take his place on the touchline in Manchester for the remainder of the campaign, before moving up to a consultancy position for the two seasons that follow.

Poch on the agenda

Whilst Rangnick’s impending arrival of course answers the questions when it comes to the Man United hotseat in the short-term, though, what of the situation beyond next summer?

Well, as alluded to above, an insight into exactly that has too been forthcoming on Thursday evening.

As per a report from Jeremy Cross of the Daily Star, the Old Trafford brass remain firmly focused on their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino:

United remain focused on hiring Maurcio Pochettino as their next permanent manager, with Rangnick moving upstairs to work alongside him in a consultancy capacity as the club’s first ever Sporting Director.

Could such a combination prove the formula required for Manchester United to finally reclaim their spot atop the footballing pyramid both in England and on the continent?
