The latest on Leeds’ pursuit of Brighton’s Ben White

An update on Leeds United’s hopes of clinching Ben White’s signing on a permanent basis has been forthcoming online today.

Leeds stint

22-year-old central defender White is a product of Brighton’s youth system.

The Englishman is yet to make a single Premier League appearance for the Seagulls, though, having instead been farmed out on a series of loans over recent seasons.

The latest of these spells away from the Amex, meanwhile, saw White truly begin to make a name for himself.

After impressing on the books of both Newport and Peterborough, the young stopper was snapped up by Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds for the 2019/20 campaign.

White subsequently went on to play an integral role in the Peacocks’ backline, starting all 46 of the club’s Championship outings, as Leeds booked their spot back in the Premier League for the first time in 16 years.

Brighton standing firm

As such, on the back of his stellar exploits this past season, news that the Championship title-winners hold an interest in making White’s stay permanent has come as little surprise.

In fact, recent weeks have seen widespread reports suggest that Leeds have already seen a number of proposals knocked back by Brighton.

The latest of these reports actually came earlier today, when Football Insider ‘exclusively’ claimed that a hefty £30 million bid had been tabled on the part of Marcelo Bielsa’s men.

Brighton, however, were said to have rejected the offer:

A further update on the situation, courtesy of a highly reliable source, meanwhile, has since also been forthcoming this evening.

Taking to Twitter a short time ago, Simon Stone of the BBC confirmed that claims of Leeds’ latest proposal for White were in fact unfounded.

Significantly, Stone also went on to add that, as things stand, Brighton have ‘no interest’ in parting with their in-demand defender:
