Iraqi football is on the slide

Barring an act of God, it’s impossible to see how Iraq will qualify for 2018 World Cup in Russia.

The Iraqis are still without a point in qualification as they’ve lost their first three matches on the spin.

That’s included defeats to Australia (2-0), Saudi Arabia (1-2) and Japan (2-1).

On Tuesday the Iraqis return to action when they take on Thailand on home soil.

The match presents an excellent chance for Iraq to score their first win of the qualifiers, as the Thais are also pointless with three defeats from three games.

Extreme biblical measures

In an effort to change their luck, the Iraqi national team have turned to an ancient practice.

They’ve scarified a sheep in public as a way of trying to assuage the gods into being on their side.

Rather than performing the slaughter in private, a graphic picture doing the rounds on social media show how the sheep was killed in public.
