Everton, Tottenham & Ross Barkley
Everton’s hopes of selling Ross Barkley to Tottenham may be over.
It’s worth noting that Chelsea have also been linked with Barkley in the summer transfer window.
Barkley, who is in the final year of his contract at Everton, has appeared to be on the way out of Goodison Park for month.
Roland Koeman memorably dropped Barkley for Everton’s final Premier League match last season at Arsenal.
Throughout the summer, the Barkley has stalled as the likes of Tottenham and Chelsea have failed to meet Everton’s 50 million pound asking price.
But on Wednesday, it feels like Barkley may now be forced to stay at Everton after all.
Terrible injury news
On Monday night news broke that Everton midfielder Ross Barkley has suffered another setback in his attempts to recover full fitness.
23-year-old English international Barkley missed the Toffees’ entire pre-season campaign after undergoing surgery on a groin problem, and only returned to training last week.
However, it was revealed that the attacking midfielder has since sustained a fresh setback, having pulled up with a hamstring problem during a training session.
The Daily Mail have now announced that Barkley’s injury could keep him out of action for six weeks. Readers are told:
Ross Barkley is facing six weeks out with a torn hamstring after scans confirmed fears of a lengthy lay-off.
The injury, understood to be a Grade Three tear, could put paid to his hopes of a move away from Everton this month with the 23-year-old facing a battle to be fully fit before October.
Will that tank Barkley’s possible move to either Tottenham or Chelsea?
That feels highly likely.
